What happens when you teach kindergarteners about water contamination? Pure enthusiasm!
On October 29th, 2026, the CEC-REN outreach team visited Amherstview Public School, where we talked about water science and contamination with a wonderful kindergarten class.
During the visit, we presented a highly interactive presentation on how water can get “dirty, what happens if water gets dirty, and how we can help prevent water from getting dirty!
Afterwards, students rotated through three hands-on stations, five minutes each:
🚽 A baby doll and potty chat where we discussed wastewater and the environment
🧪 A “remove the contaminants challenge where students cleaned the water themselves
🔦 A UV light demonstration that revealed invisible chemicals the eye can’t see
Thank you to Rhiannon, Meghan, and Olivia, and to the teachers and staff at Amherstview Public School for making the visit possible. We’re already looking forward to the next outreach opportunity!
