PhD graduate Meghan Mendelin has been awarded a Mitacs Accelerate postdoctoral fellowship.

Meghan is undertaking this post-doc at Brock University under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Doucet. In collaboration with the Childcare Resource and Research Unit and the SSHRC-funded Reimagining Care/Work project, Meghan will be critically exploring issues of ownership in the delivery of early learning and child care programs, particularly the disproportionate growth of for-profit ventures and the growing influence of private equity investors. The work will involve a comprehensive review of scholarly and policy literature on child care ownership, cross-national and international comparative policy analysis, and key informant interviews.

By turning attention to the implications of for-profit ownership of child care services, the fellowship will extend Meghan’s doctoral work on the non-profit sector as a critical and undervalued site of social reproduction and care labour. The project will produce peer-reviewed articles, presentations at conferences, and public-facing events.

Meghan completed her PhD in Global Development Studies at Â鶹¹ÙÍø's in 2026.

Congratulations Meghan!
