The Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s community is remembering Professor Emeritus Robin Fletcher, who was a member of the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Astronomy for more than 30 years. Dr. Fletcher was born in England and earned both his BSc and PhD from Leeds University before completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Exeter. A second postdoctoral fellowship brought him to Canada in 1968 to conduct research at the University of Toronto. In 1969, he joined Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s as an assistant professor, and he remained at the university before retiring as a full professor in 2002.

Dr. Fletcher was a prominent researcher in condensed matter and solid-state physics. His research included a long-term collaboration with fellow Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s Professor Emeritus Eugene Zaremba on various topics, including two-dimensional electron gases. He was a dedicated instructor who won several teaching awards.

Those who knew him say they will remember his quick wit, keen sense of humour, and love of physics.
