I’m a second-year PhD student in Social-Personality Psychology here at Â鶹¹ÙÍø! I completed my BA in Psychology and MA in Sociology in Kansas,
United States with a focus on sexual violence prevention research, which instilled in me a keen interest to explore how structural inequity can seep its way
into intimate relationships and impact sexual wellbeing of marginalized populations. At the van Anders lab, I’m conducting research on gendered roots of
interpersonal dynamics in close relationships and exploring sexual diversity of racial and ethnic minority groups. Outside of grad school, I love traveling,
exploring, and dancing!

I’m a first-year Master’s student in Social-Personality Psychology here at Â鶹¹ÙÍø! I
completed my undergrad in Psychology and Criminology at York University. My research
interests focus on sexuality by exploring sexual phenomena such as desire. One of my goals as
a researcher is to help close the gap between research and underrepresented populations.
Outside of school, I enjoy baking, painting, listening to music, and finding new shows/movies.
I'm a second-year Ph.D. student at Â鶹¹ÙÍø's University in Social-Personality psychology. I completed my B.A.
in Psychology and Gender & Women's Studies at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame and my M.A. in Psychology at
The New School for Social Research in New York City. While obtaining my degrees, my work focused on LGBTQ+ student
experiences on Catholic, Protestant, and secular campuses, the impact of anti-fatness in American media on fat women's
sexual self-esteem, and examining the postfeminist to alt-right pipeline through the online TradWife influencer movement.
Currently, I am interested in bringing critical feminist, queer, and fat lenses to social psychology and sexuality studies,
specifically to examine how lived experiences of fatness impact one's understanding of their own gender/sex, sexuality,
and relationships. In my free time, I love to write fiction, learn new songs on my guitar, FaceTime with my
family back home, and play with my cat!

I’m a feminist social psychologist interested in how social norms and power shape the way marginalized identities and
perspectives are perceived and valued, with a particular focus on gender/sex, race/ethnicity, and intersectionality. I received my Ph.D.
in Psychology from Â鶹¹ÙÍø, where I trained in Dr. Sari van Anders’s lab, and completed my postdoctoral training
at the University of Michigan. I’m excited to return to Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s with a Canada Impact+ Research Training Award and continue
this work! Outside of work, I’m very much a cat person and usually spend my free time reading mystery novels.
I completed my PhD in Developmental Psychology at Â鶹¹ÙÍø's University. My dissertation explored the role of social safety — defined by social connection,
inclusion, and protection — on the relationship between bullying victimization and health, with a particular focus on queer youth. I love taking a multidisciplinary
approach to research, constantly learning new methods and making my work accessible to the public. Beyond my work
in the lab, I'm a program facilitator for Girls Flip the Script, a program that empowers adolescent girls to recognize danger
cues in their relationships. Outside of academia, I love writing novels, snuggling with my pets, and painting
— you can find my artwork at Martello Alley, a local gallery!
I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at Â鶹¹ÙÍø, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I am thrilled to be a part of the
award-winning van Anders lab and to continue exploring my research interests. In particular, I am drawn to understanding how imagined social situations
affect hormones and sexual desire in women. I hope to use this experience in graduate school and to build skills for creating supportive environments as
an aspiring child/school psychologist. Outside the lab, I enjoy dancing, going to concerts, reading, and travelling around the world! In fact, this past
winter I studied Psychology in Northern Ireland!

I am a third-year undergraduate student at Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s, pursuing a Psychology Specialization with a Sociology minor! I am super excited to be a part of the
van Anders lab and to gain hands on research experience in such an interesting field, and with such a great team. My research interests include neuroendocrinology,
gender/sex, and the ways that biological, social, and environmental factors interact to shape human health and behaviour. I am particularly interested in understanding
these topics through an intersectional lens and exploring how these experiences across different social identities and contexts can influence individuals’ health,
wellbeing, and mental space. Outside of the lab I love reading, being outdoors (specifically hiking), spending time with friends and family, and baking/cooking!

I'm a second-year Health Sciences student at Â鶹¹ÙÍø's University, and I'm so excited to be joining the van Anders Lab this fall! I was
drawn to the lab because its feminist and queer science approach genuinely aligns with my values. Research like this is so often overlooked
or pushed to the margins, and I'd love to help be part of bringing more awareness to it. I am eager to understand the process of applying that
perspective to my own work as I strive to become a health practitioner. Outside the lab, I really enjoy singing and treating it like meditation,
going on walks by the pier, watching shows with my friends and playing tennis!

I am currently a Health Sciences student at Â鶹¹ÙÍø's University, and I am working to focus my degree on the anatomical
basis of health and disease. I am proud to be working in a lab that focuses on intersectionality within its practices,
and I am invigorated to learn more about the psychosocial interactions of identity and perception within queer feminist
research. I plan to instill the knowledge gained in this research team to future practices as a healthcare provider.
Outside of the lab, I enjoy drawing, printmaking, weightlifting and gaming.

My name is Mia, and I am a fourth-year Psychology student here at Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s! In general, I am very interested in how social and psychological
factors can influence physiological processes, and I am thrilled to explore these interests through my Honours thesis in social neuroendocrinology
and the Heteronormativity Theory of Low Sexual Desire. I especially love how the lab is grounded in feminist and queer science and moves beyond
traditional ways of thinking about research to better reflect diverse lived experiences. I hope to learn a lot from this approach and carry these
perspectives forward into clinical research in the future! Outside of the lab, I love to travel, read, do yoga and Pilates, and spend time with
my friends and family!

I am a fourth-year Psychology student at Â鶹¹ÙÍø, and I am excited to be involved in the van Anders Lab as an honours thesis student.
My interests in psychology and research focus on human sexuality and sexual behaviour, particularly desire and the factors that shape it, as well as
the influences of heteronormativity. I am especially thrilled to be a part of a lab that is grounded in feminist and queer science, as my long-term goal
is to conduct research that supports communities often marginalized within scientific research. Outside of the lab, I enjoy listening to music and
playing bass!
I am a third-year Health Sciences student interested in women’s health and feminist research that explores how social context shapes physiological processes. My
interest in feminism was first sparked several years ago through advocacy work, which led me to value research grounded in intersectionality, lived experience, and
thoughtful knowledge translation. With experience in health promotion communication, I am particularly interested in communicating research findings in accessible
and non-stigmatizing ways, and I hope to continue to improve on this practice within this collaborative lab setting! Outside of the lab, I love swimming, painting,
and candle-making!

I’m a second-year Health Sciences student at Â鶹¹ÙÍø! I was drawn to the lab because of its focus on social neuroendocrinology, and am particularly
interested in understanding how social experiences and behaviours shape hormonal processes. I am especially intrigued by the lab’s approach to challenging conventional
biomedical frameworks by examining questions from perspectives that are often overlooked, for example, reversing the traditional direction of causality to explore how
behaviour can influence hormones, or considering hormonal regulation as socially embedded rather than solely evolutionarily driven. This perspective on the interplay between
biology, behaviour, and social context is what excites me about the lab’s work, as does its commitment to placing underrepresented groups at the forefront of its research
endeavours and recognizing their experiences as essential to advancing our understanding of health and biology. My long-term goals as a research assistant include supporting
research studies at different stages, and potentially contributing to papers that the lab produces. In my free time, I enjoy acrylic painting, sculpting, cooking for my family and
spending time with my sister
