Understanding Your Fees

Your student account may include tuition, levies, health insurance, ancillary fees, and course-related fees. Learn more about the fees that may apply to you below.

Tuition

  • Tuition fees cover the cost of your academic program and are charged to your student account each term (fall, winter, and summer) after you enrol in courses.
  • Unless otherwise stated, tuition is based on the total number of units (credits) you enrol in. Payment deadlines can be found on the How to Pay page.

Factors That Affect Your Tuition

Tuition amounts are determined by your program, course enrolment, and tuition fee status.

Your citizenship status, as submitted on your initial admission application to Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s, is permanently recorded in our system regardless of whether you enroll as a student.

This status determines if you are assessed domestic or international tuition fees.

Please note that updates to your citizenship status made through later admission applications are not automatically reflected in our records. To update your citizenship status at Â鶹¹Ù꿉۪s, you must submit the necessary supporting documents by the deadlines indicated on the Tuition Fee Status Changes webpage.

Students who are not a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or a person registered as Indigenous within the meaning of the Indian Act, are assessed at the international fee rate.

The Ministry of Colleges and Universities outlines a number of exemptions which may be applicable to some International students. Each of these cases must be examined individually by fee assessment staff in the Office of the University Registrar. Please visit our Tuition Fee Status Change page for information on exemption categories and how to request an exemption.

Tuition is assessed based on the academic program in which a course is offered.

If you enrol in a course offered by another faculty or school, the tuition charged may differ from the rate normally assessed for your home program.

Student Assistance Levy

The Student Assistance Levy (SAL) is a fee, applied on a per term basis, charged to students to help improve existing scholarships and student assistance programs, fund the Summer Work Experience Program (SWEP), and support the learning environment.

The Student Assistance Levy is assessed based on the number of units you are enrolled in during a term.

There is no maximum amount that can be assessed through the Student Assistance Levy.
